Collection of Valentine’s Day Poems by our residents
|Events
In February, as part of Creativia, Le Groupe Maurice launched a Valentine’s Day poetry contest, inviting residents to participate. And Le Groupe Maurice’s large Facebook community chose the beautiful winning poem.
We have to say, we were very pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming enthusiasm that this contest generated among residents. We received more than 130 poems and were thrilled to read each one. In view of the high number of participants, a selection committee was set up to pick one finalist per residence. These poems were posted on Le Groupe Maurice’s Facebook page to the delight of our large community and votes for the “favourite” poem began to pour in.
Angeline Dupont, a resident of La Croisée de L’Est, in Granby, won the contest with her moving poem revisiting her most beautiful memories. A love letter to a full life.
A collection for poetry month
The response from residents was so enthusiastic and the poems so touching that we wanted to showcase these literary creations. That’s why Le Groupe Maurice team immediately started designing a remarkable publication with all the poems submitted. For ecological reasons, we came up with two versions of the collection: one, a paper version containing the poems of the finalists and distributed to all the residents of Le Groupe Maurice, and the other, an electronic version presenting all the poems received, posted online. You can read the collection HERE.
Creativia or letting your imagination run wild
Launched in December 2020, the Creativia initiative sought to get residents’ imagination and creativity flowing with various contests and activities. Creativia kicked off with two contests that immersed Le Groupe Maurice’s residences in the magic of the holiday season. This initiative continued with our poetry contest and a series of virtual concerts throughout February and March. What other surprises are in store? Stay tuned!
We hope you enjoy reading these poems—may they warm your hearts.
