The Luc Maurice Foundation’s Christmas of Giving
|Luc Maurice Foundation
Every year during the holiday season, the Luc Maurice Foundation and Le Groupe Maurice join forces to support older individuals living unstable conditions. In 2024, their generosity made a real difference: over 8,000 meals were distributed and delivered to those in need. These Christmas giving initiatives brought warmth and cheer to people, demonstrating a deep commitment to the community.
United for a Christmas with compassion
The holiday season isn’t just about parties and presents – it’s also about giving back. And for the Luc Maurice Foundation and Le Groupe Maurice, giving back to the community is a must.
Sharing meals, smiles and some human kindness with those who need it most might seem like a small thing, but deeply meaningful. It’s an opportunity to reach out to others and demonstrate that solidarity knows no bounds.
The spirit of Christmas giving is truly embodied through mutual support and community initiatives, as perfectly illustrated by this year’s efforts!
More and more every year
The Luc Maurice Foundation’s philanthropic efforts have been growing stronger every year, inspiring more and more Le Groupe Maurice residents and staff to join in and support older persons in need.
Working together enables the Foundation to uphold its core values of conviction, collaboration and kindness through actions that positively impact the community.
And in 2024, volunteers outdid themselves with three incredible initiatives:
Food baskets for older adults
This year, employees from the head office prepared and delivered 1,100 bags of non-perishable groceries to residents of 13 affordable housing units in Villeray, Mercier and Laval. This thoughtful gesture helped bring some extra peace of mind to holiday celebrations.
A snack accompanied by a short musical performance also took place during distribution of the baskets in the common room of each housing unit, bringing a touch of joy to the participants’ day.
The cheerful and warm exchanges were certainly the highlight of the event. The enthusiasm of the employees, combined with the radiant smiles of the residents, warmed everyone’s heart.
Preparation and distribution of hot meals
Le Groupe Maurice residents were also eager to pitch in. Together, they prepared and delivered an impressive 6,840 hot meals to local organizations that help those in need.
This new record highlights a sadly growing trend, as Canadian food banks receive over 2 million visits every month from people of all ages.
This initiative showcases the strong sense of solidarity among Le Groupe Maurice residents, who are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of members of our communities.
Christmas dinners for those in need
Finishing on a high note, a special Christmas meal was also provided to nearly 240 people aged 55 and over who are experiencing poverty, homelessness or isolation. The dinner took place at Sainte-Brigide Catholic Church in Montreal.
This event, organized by PAS de la rue, was made possible due to the notable involvement of Le Groupe Maurice’s food services team and the financial support of the Luc Maurice Foundation; which was eager to contribute to this wonderful project.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers who, through their dedication and generosity, contributed to making this Christmas of Giving a resounding success. Your compassion and charity brought comfort and joy to those who needed it most.
Together, we’re strengthening the fabric of our community, one stitch at a time. Thank you again for your devotion, enthusiasm and kindness!
