Exercise for Parkinson's
The exercises will be offered twice a week by resident volunteer Jeannette Mercier.
The treatment of Parkinson's disease is based on several factors, particularly the integration of an exercise program. These promote the maintenance of independence and help to maximize the effect of the antiparkinsonian medication, which provides a better quality of life.
The functions and benefits of exercise are huge. In particular, it allows:
improve muscle flexibility,
range of motion
the coordination,
the balance,
elocution and dexterity,
to strengthen the extensor muscles, which among other things help keep the back straight,
to act on stiffness and postural problems,
to reduce fatigue,
promote muscle relaxation and relieve cramps,
to act on stress, depression, insomnia, constipation.
Studies also suggest that exercise may slow the progression of Parkinson's disease.

Each team has eight stones and the goal is to accumulate the highest score of the match; points are awarded for stones that come to rest closest to the center of the house at the end of each round, which ends when both teams throw all their stones. A match may consist of eight or ten innings.
